As a Belgian myself, I find myself browsing the Dutch r/BIFLNL subreddit often. I have to say that they are very passionate about the Boska 'kaasschaaf' (cheese slicer). This got me wondering 'Why do the Dutch love Boska so much?'. That's why I decided to do a deep dive in the Boska brand.
Boska primarely makes kitchen utensils sold at a very reasonable price. Their signature BIFL 'kaasschaaf' costs as little as €10. The company's mission is 'to create products that are affordable, fun, timeless and last a lifetime', which obviously fits the BIFL lifestyle. All their products come with a lifetime warranty to back these claims up.
Next to their cheese slicers, also their kitchen knives are inexpensive at €30 for a basic chef's knife of good quality. In the end, basically all of their kitchen stuff from graters to BBQ tongs deserves a BIFL label.
The company also clearly cares a lot about durability, society and the environment. Since 2022, they are a certified B Corp, which is a very ambitious certification when it comes to sustainablity. Smart resource usage, sustainable packaging and generous gifts to multiple humanitary organisations are only some of the things that lead to them receiving this certification.
